KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's leading rubber glove maker Supermax Corp Bhd is tapping the emerging market economies in Asia for its future growth, said its executive chairman Stanley Thai Kim Sim.

The company sees the region as the new growth area and is expected to increase the revenue from Asian market from 6 percent to 10 percent of its global revenue next year, he said after the company's annual general meeting on Tuesday.

Health spending is rising in Asia as the health awareness here continues improving due to the higher level of income triggered by the economic growth, he said.

Meanwhile, the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement initiatives will also provide sufficient opportunities for the company to grow in the region, he added.

To underpinning its expansion in Asia, Supermax is conducting plant expansion and the installation of new production lines, he said.

North America, Europe and South America are so far the top three revenue contributors for the company, accounting for 42 percent, 26 percent and 16 percent, respectively.

Supermax recorded a total revenue of 65 million U.S. dollars in the first quarter of 2010, with the pre-tax profit bouncing 131.3 percent to 16 million U.S. dollars.

Supermax is expected to extend the remarkable performance to the second and third quarter thanks to improvement in operational cost management, said Thai.
