The ASEAN Tourism Investment Forum Held in Lombok of Indonesia

From 6 to 9 of November, 2012, ASEAN Tourism Investment Forum took place in Lombok, Indonesia. Around 100 representatives from governmental tourism investment bodies and private sectors from ASEAN Member States attended the forum. Tourism Officer Wu Dawei and Trade & Investment Officer Wang Shuyu attended the forum on behalf of ACC. It was the first time that ACC assigned representatives to attend the forum.     

Themed as “ASEAN Tourism Investment in Facing Global Demand”, the forum was organized by the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy of Indonesia. Governor of West Nusa Tenggara of Indonesia and representative from ASEAN Secretariat delivered welcome speeches. Director General of Tourism Destination Development, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia delivered keynote speech. Representatives of Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Malaysia made presentations on tourism investment environment and projects in each country. The host country Indonesia presented tourism investment opportunities in Lombok Island, Bali Island, and West Java. Topics of visa issues and flight schedules aroused heated discussions among forum representatives.     

 The forum representatives visited an exhibition of tourism investment related products and made site inspections to local tourism facilities.

Hosted by ASEAN Secretariat and organized by the ASEAN Member States in turn, ASEAN Tourism Investment Forum aimed at establishing a platform addressing problems in the promotion and facilitation of tourism investment in ASEAN region while attracting tourism investors and exchanging information on tourism investment. With 4 forums passed, the next forum will be held in Cambodia in 2014.
