Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang Visited Guangxi University for Nationalities

On 17 March 2013, Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang of ASEAN-China Centre led a delegation to Guangxi University for Nationalities and held a meeting with Party Secretary Zhong Haiqing and President Xie Shang, as well as briefed the teachers and students on the development of ASEAN-China relations. Mr. Ma made a discussion with the university leaders on “My ASEAN & China Multi-media Art Exhibition” with the main theme of “Khmer Smile”, which aims to give a publicity of Cambodian traditional culture and its people’s life.

As one of the bases to train personnels of minority languages, Guangxi University for Nationalities was established in 1952. Besides training a large amount of talents proficient in ASEAN cultures and languages for China, this university makes large efforts on pushing forward ASEAN-China education cooperation. It has trained as many as nearly 10,000 ASEAN overseas students. There are about 1,500 ASEAN students in the university studying Chinese language, international trade, business management, tourism management, market promotion, computer technology, etc.
