On 13 March 2013, Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang paid an official call on Director-General Esthy Reko Astuty of the Department of Tourism Promotion of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, right before his attendance at the meeting of the ASEAN-China Joint Cooperation Committee. He made an introduction to what ASEAN-China Center has done to promote tourism cooperation between China and ASEAN countries since its establishment, taking as an example the feature documentary about Cambodia made by China Central Television (CCTV) last year, which helped promote the image and tourism resources of ASEAN countries and was responded well.

Director-General Astuty gave a warm welcome to Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang and applauded ACC’s work. She said that the goal of Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy this year was to attract one million Chinese tourists and increase the number to 1.3 million by 2014. The Ministry strongly hopes to enhance cooperation with ACC and create conditions for CCTV’s special coverage of Indonesia within this year. Both sides agreed to maintain close contact on relevant issues.
