The 2nd My ASEAN & China Multi-media Exhibition Held

On 13 April 2013, the 2nd My ASEAN & China Multi-media Exhibition: Khmer Smile was held in Guangxi University of Nationalities. President Xie Shangguo of the University,  Ambassador of Cambodia to China, H.E. Mrs. Khek Caimealy Sysoda and Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) delivered speeches at the opening ceremony, where 200 representatives from Guangxi Autonomous Region's Foreign Affairs Office, Education Department and Commerce Department, as well as the teachers and students of the University attended. Secretary Zhong Haiqing of the Uuniversity also met with the distinguished guests.

In his welcoming remarks, President Xie Shangguo introduced that the university had set up cooperation with 54 universities and institutions of 8 ASEAN Member States and the Leaders of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam had visited the University. As an important window and platform of ASEAN-China education cooperation, Guangxi University of Nationalities would hold various activities to enhance bilateral cultural exchanges and friendship.

Ambassador of Cambodia to China, Mrs. Khek Caimealy Sysoda expressed her gratitude to the ACC for holding the exhibition. She said that Cambodia are is rich of World Cultural Heritages and viewers would learn the a long history and splendid culture from "Khmer Smile". Cambodian Ambassador Mrs. Khek Caimealy Sysoda also warmly welcomed Chinese students to tour and study in Cambodia.

Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang pointed out that 2013 marks the 10th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnershipas well as the 55th Anniversary of Cambodia-China diplomatic relations. The ACC aims to promote ASEAN-China practical cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, education, culture and tourism. He hoped the university students would take an active role in enhancing mutual trust and understanding as well as friendship and cooperation between ASEAN and China.

The exhibition, consisting of 90 pieces of art crafts by the famous international photographer and artist Ms. Rita Zhao, gave vivid display on Cambodian natural scenery, historic relics and daily customs from the panoramic angels of tradition, dance, architecture, sculpture and religion, etc. 

On the same day, the distinguished guests also attended the Splashing Festival and ASEAN Food Festival in Guangxi University of Nationalities. Ms. Rita Zhao and Mr. Xu Jiatian, President of China-Cambodia Youth Friendship Foundation, delivered lectures themed on "Power of Time: Inspiration of Cambodia" and "Power of Care: Chinese Volunteers in Cambodia" respectively to the teachers and students of the University.
