In the evening of 28 June 2013, the ACC took ASEAN diplomatic envoys in Beijing on a journey to experience the Chinese culture by presenting them with a performance of the famous Peking Opera piece "An Embroidered Treasure Pouch". Before the show, President Song Guanlin of China National Peking Opera Company (CNOPC) met with the diplomatic envoys. He talked about the history of Peking Opera, the traditional Chinese virtues shown in this particular piece of work and the international exchanges in this field. He expressed hope that the CNOPC would one day perform in ASEAN countries.

Malaysian Ambassador Iskandar Sarudin spoke on behalf of the diplomatic envoys. He thanked the CNOPC for offering this wonderful opportunity to experience traditional Chinese culture and expressed the readiness to work with the CNOPC in promoting ASEAN-China cultural exchanges. The spouses of the diplomatic envoys visited the backstage and were intrigued by the makeup and props used in Peking Opera.

After the show, the diplomatic envoys went on stage and took a group photo with the artists. They spoke highly of the wonderful performance, noting that the storyline, singing techniques, costumes and props were all fantastic and from this feast of beauty they gained a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese culture. They expressed hope for greater cooperation with the ACC to actively promote cultural exchanges between ASEAN countries and China.
