ACC Attended the 38th ASEAN NTOs Meeting

From 3 to 5 July 2013, the 38th Meeting of the ASEAN National Tourism Organizations (38th ASEAN NTOs) was held in Nay Pyi Taw, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. Mr. Tri Purnajaya, Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division, and Mr. Dawei Wu, Tourism Officer of ACC, attended the meeting. Mr. Purnajaya made a report on the tourism projects and activities conducted by ACC over the past year and major planned tourism projects for 2013. ACC’s efforts in promoting ASEAN tourist attractions in China and strengthening tourism cooperation between ASEAN and China were appreciated by participants from ASEAN Member States. The ASEAN Secretariat briefed on the tourism-related outcomes of the 16th Meeting of the ASEAN Tourism Ministers held during ATF 2013 in Vientiane, LAO PDR. Participants exchanged views and discussed topics of cooperation with private sectors and other ASEAN bodies.  

On July 4 and 5, ACC representatives met with H.E. Aye Myint Kyu, Union Minister of Culture, Mr. Thein Naing, Director-General of Educational Planning & Training, Ministry of Education, and Dr. Myo Thet, Secretary-General of Chambers of Commerce & Industry of Union of Myanmar. ACC representatives briefed them on ACC’s role and expressed willingness to further relations through practical cooperation and partnership with them. All parties appreciated ACC’s efforts of enhancing connectivity and people-to-people communication between ASEAN and China. H.E. Aye Myint Kyu and Dr. Myo Thetboth warmly extended their invitations to Secretary-General Ma Miangqiang of ACC to visit Myanmar at his convinient time.
