ASEAN University Delegation Visited Beijing

On 2 December 2013, the delegation of ASEAN University Study Visit Programme to China paid visits to Education Ministry of China, Beijing Language and Culture University, Tsinghua University and Tuspark.

In the morning when visiting Ministry of Education of China, the delegation met with Mr. Liu Baoli, Counsel of International Department and Mr. Gao Runsheng, Vice Counsel of Science and Technology Department. Counsel Liu Baoli said that China attaches great importance to education cooperation with ASEAN, and ASEAN-China Education Cooperation Week has made remarkable progress in promoting youth exchanges, university cooperation and language teaching. He hoped the visit of the delegation could make further contribution to cooperation in scientific research and innovation.

Vice Counsel Gao Runsheng gave a introduction on innovation mechanism and measures of universities in China and made concrete proposals in strengthening scientific research cooperation between Chinese and ASEAN universities. The delegates and Vice Counsel Gao also exchanged views on such issues as financial support of government to innovation, commercialization of research results and management of research projects.

In the noontime, the delegation visited Beijing Language and Culture University and met with Vice President Qi Dexiang. Mr. Qi briefed on BLCU’s exchange programme with ASEAN and hoped to conduct more cooperation with ASEAN universities in student exchanges and language teaching.

In the afternoon, the delegation paid a visit to Tsinghua University. Mr. Yuan Si, Vice President of Tsinghua University, made an introduction on the advantages of the University, especially its development in scientific innovation, as well as research cooperation and management with international universities, enterprises and organizations.

The Deputy CEO of Tuspark briefed the delegation on the operation, prospect and contribution of this science and technology park, during which the delegates felt inspired and deeply touched. They raised questions such as the operation of Tuspark, setting up enterprises and incubator of hi-tech companies, etc. The delegation als expressed their willingness to carry out cooperation with Tuspark in the future.
