Ms. Lada Phumas, Director of Information and Public Relations Division, made a briefing on the development of ASEAN-China relations and ACC, structure and roles of ACC as well as concrete activities ACC held to promote ASEAN-China cooperation. ACC is committed to support goals and initiatives set out by ASEAN and China in the areas of trade, investment, education, culture, tourism and information, which have helped enhance ASEAN-China connectivity, in order that both sides could achieve "a diamond decade" of relations. She emphasized that continued support from the 11 governments would also be a key factor for the achievement of ACC.

The two sides held an in-depth exchange of views on a wide range of issues such as how to further promote ASEAN-China student mobility through providing scholarships, ASEAN-China vocational education cooperation, a proposal for ACC to hold an ASEAN Cultural Night to support 2014 ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year and a necessity to improve transparency in implementing CAFTA policies through disseminating related and useful information to business sectors both in China and ASEAN Member States.

The delegation highly appraised the fruitful achievements ACC has accomplished during the past 2 years. Some delegates observed that ASEAN and China serve as the world's engine of growth and the bilateral relations between ASEAN and China is embracing an impressive future.

ACC, which is a young and promising intergovernmental organization, is conducting its work in a way to "touch the future" of ASEAN-China relations. The delegation encouraged ACC to continue its outstanding work and to make a brighter future for ASEAN-China relations.
