Trade and Investment Officers of ACC Visited Yiwu

From 28 to 30 January 2015, the delegation of Trade and Investment Division (TID) of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) paid a field visit to Yiwu, Zhejiang Province. The delegation visited the ASEAN-China Products Trade Centre (ACPTC) in Yiwu, talked with the shop keepers, and held a meeting with officials from the Foreign Office and Bureau of Commerce of Yiwu, Zhejiang China Commodities City Group Co. Ltd., and representatives of shop keepers of ACPTC.      

In January 2012, Mr. He Meihua, Mayor of Yiwu City and Mr. Ma Mingqiang, Secretary-General of ACC signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Strategic Cooperation between ASEAN-China Centre and Yiwu Municipal People’s Government. In that MoU, Yiwu government agreed to block 5,000 square meters in Yiwu International Trade Mart, to exhibit and sell goods from ASEAN countries. In December 2013, ACPTC was formally inaugurated. Shops with ASEAN features opened one after another.                 

     

Until now, most ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Laos, Viet Nam, Cambodia and Malaysia, already opened 9 shops in ACPTC. The products are mainly consist of furniture, jewelries, accessories, foods and daily necessities with ASEAN features. With the preferential policies and shop keepers’ devoted management, ACPTC is becoming the highlight of the international trade mart, attracting more and more customers citywide and nationwide. 

The Deputy Manager General of Zhejiang China Commodities City Group Co. Ltd., and representatives of shop keepers of ACPTC expressed their sincere thanks to ACC for its support and assistance. Many shop keepers said they were very happy to exchange views with ACC officials. They hoped to have more chances like this in the future, so that with the joint effort of all, ACPTC would be better improved.
