Guilin Government Delegation Visited ACC

Led by Mr. Yu Changguo, Assistant Mayor, Guilin Government delegation visited ACC on 18 March 2015. Ms. Huang Ying, Acting Secretary-General and Director of General Affairs and Coordination Division (GACD) of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), accompanied by Ms. Wang Jin, Deputy Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD), held a meeting with the delegation, . Both sides exchanged views on promotion of tourism cooperation between China and ASEAN and the preparation of Guilin Tourism Exhibition of China-ASEAN Expo. 

Mr. Yu briefed on Guilin Tourism Exhibition. Co-hosted by China National Tourism Administration, People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Tourism Boards of ASEAN countries, Guilin Tourism Exhibition functions as one of the five professional exhibitions within the framework of China-ASEAN Expo with the aim of developing into an international well-known exhibition, promoting the development of tourism cooperation between China and ASEAN as well as enhancing people-to-people friendship under the umbrella of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative. The exhibition covers an area of 23,000 square metres. Apart from tourism departments and enterprises of ASEAN countries, foreign participants and more than 300 high-quality buyers are expected to attend the exhibition.

Ms. Huang briefed the delegation on ACC’s work in five areas namely trade, investment, education, culture and tourism to promote the relationship between China and ASEAN, and ACC’s unremitting efforts in enhancing tourism exchange and cooperation in particular. 

In 2014, more than 6 million tourists from ASEAN countries visited China while over 11 million Chinese tourists travelled to ASEAN countries. The development of China-ASEAN tourism enjoys prosperous prospect and great potential. With location advantage of Guilin, ACC will further engage Guilin in the tourism promotion between ASEAN and China in the future. As the supporting organization of Guilin Tourism Exhibition, ACC will keep close communication and strengthen cooperation with Guilin related authorities for the preparation of the Exhibition.

Mr. Tri Purnajaya, Director of ECTD, held work talks with Mr. Yu Changguo and Guilin Exhibition and Convention Bureau on 19 March 2015. Both sides held in-depth discussion on the matters including helping Guilin side to meet with the Ambassador of Brunei to China which will be the host country of this year's exhibition and other issues regarding further promoting the participation from other ASEAN countries.
