Chinese Magic and Acrobatics Were Warmly Received in Laos

On 22-26 April 2015, an art group of Chinese magic and acrobatics, organized by ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), visited Laos to give lectures and performances, which were warmly received by the Lao people. The event achieved great success.

On 23 April 2015, the event was held at China Cultural Centre in Laos. H.E. Mr. Chaleune Warinthrasak, Vice Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos, Mr. Bounchao Phichit, Director-General of Television Nationale of Laos, Mr. Touan Mouanchanh, Director of National School of Arts of Laos, diplomats from Chinese Embassy in Laos and media from Laos and China attended the event. Mr. Que Xiaohua, Director of China Cultural Centre in Laos, opened the event. Ms. Wang Jin, Deputy Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD) of ACC, delivered the remarks.

During the lecture given by Mr. Tian Xueming, a famous magician of China, and the performances by Mr. Tian himself and his assistants, Mr. Tian introduced the history and development of Chinese magic and demonstrated the magic, using common household items like wooden and glass utensils and playing cards, which pleasantly surprised the audience. The acrobatics performance appealed to the audience. 

Before the event, H.E. Mr. Chaleune Warinthrasak met with Ms. Wang Jin and exchanged views on the future cooperation. Ms. Wang briefed on the mandates and roles of ACC and the work ACC had achieved in the area of cultural exchanges. H.E. Mr. Warinthrasak spoke highly of ACC's important roles in promoting ASEAN-China cultural exchanges and strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between Laos and China. 

On 25 April 2015, the lecture and performances were given at the National University of Laos and received warm applause from the teachers and students. The interaction between the artists and audience pushed the event to an exciting climax.
