HO CHI MINH CITY, March 1 (Xinhua) -- "Ao dai" Festival 2016 kicked off here Tuesday, featuring a parade, exhibitions, a fair, talk shows and contests relating to the traditional long dress worn by Vietnamese women.
During the month-long festival themed "Ho Chi Minh City - Ao dai City", various activities are set to take place, including a parade involving students cycling to cultural and historical monuments around the city, photo exhibitions entitled "Ao dai through the ages" in museums, an "ao dai" fair to display, exchange and trade the dress and relevant accessories, talk shows and many relevant contests.
The city's residents are encouraged to wear "ao dai" in their daily life from March 1-31.
The event is organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism in coordination with the municipal Department of Culture and Tourism.
