ACC Hosted Welcoming Activities for the Participants of the ASEAN Film Week

On 19 September 2016, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) hosted welcoming activities for the participants of the ASEAN Film Week of the 3rd Silk Road International Film Festival. H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ACC, H.E. Mr. Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC), Mr. Sun Chao, Deputy Secretary of the Managing Committee of Qujiang New District of Xi’an, Mr. Ruan Yonggang, President of ASEAN Finance Agency, film workers and media representatives from 10 ASEAN Member States attended this event.

 

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping welcomed the guests to participate in the ASEAN Film Week to be held in Xi’an. She said that the ASEAN Film Week, to be held during the 3rd Silk Road International Film Festival, would be one of ACC’s activities to mark the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations. ASEAN and China had a long history of frequent cultural exchanges with strong bonds. There were huge potentials in the cooperation of film industry between both sides. With the strong support of the partners, the ASEAN Film Week would kick off tomorrow. ACC would host a series of activities including ASEAN-China Film Cooperation Forum and ASEAN Film Panorama. The event would inject new impetus for future cooperation, and make new contribution to ASEAN-China relations.

 

Secretary General Kim Young-sun thanked ACC for the invitation. He commended that the Silk Road International Film Festival being held in Xi'an was all the more meaningful as Xi’an was the cradle of the Asian civilization, the starting point of the Silk Road Economic Belt, and among others, the city of creative inspiration. The ASEAN Film Week would definitely bring ASEAN and China much closer through deepening their understanding and cooperation with each other.

 

Mr. Neo Chee Keong, convener of the ASEAN film delegation and film director of Singapore, said that every film could be regarded as a spiritual travel of human beings to their hometowns, and every piece of work had its own life. The ASEAN Film Week was definitely an important event in Asia film industry. He thanked ACC for building the bridge for the film workers of ASEAN countries.

 

Mr. Sun Chao commented that the Film Week would help raise the awareness of the 3rd Silk Road International Film Festival. Xi’an would take this opportunity to expand cultural exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN countries and jointly promote the prosperity and development of film industries of ASEAN and China.

 

Mr. Ruan Yonggang hoped that the film workers could conduct in-depth communication and explore opportunities for cooperation in order to break new ground for ASEAN-China cultural exchanges.

 

The ASEAN Film Week, to be held from 19 to 23 September 2016, was co-hosted by ACC, Film Bureau of State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, Shaanxi Provincial Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, and Executive Committee of the 3rd Silk Road International Film Festival, and sponsored by ASEAN Finance Agency and other organizations.
