On 16 December 2016, the Information and Public Relations Division (IPRD) of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) hosted a working meeting with members of major Chinese media and resident ASEAN media offices in China. Over twenty representatives from eleven media agencies, including Antara (Indonesia News Agency), Xinhua News Agency, Xinhua Net, People.com, China Network Television, Sina.com, China Radio International, China Daily, China Report Magazine, Journal of World Education, and Beijing Time attended the meeting.
Following a briefing on ACC’s work in 2016 and especially highlight projects in media and public relations, Mr. Vithit Powattanasuk, Director of IPRD, extended his gratitude to the media partners for their efforts to report on friendly cooperation between ASEAN and China. He remarked that 2017 will be the 50th anniversary of ASEAN and the ASEAN-China Year of Tourism Cooperation and ACC will carry out a series of colourful activities to deepen ASEAN-China cooperation. He hoped that both ASEAN and Chinese media would continue to lend support to ACC, pay close attention to the development of ASEAN-China relations and raise among the general public greater awareness of the achievements of ASEAN-China cooperation.
The media representatives commended ACC on its roles and achievements, saying that they would like to participate in and cover ACC’s major events and contribute further to promoting cooperation and exchange between both sides and fostering mutual understanding and friendship among the people.
