ACC Secretary-General Met with Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia

On 3 August 2017, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with H.E. Mr. Xiong Bo, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Cambodia. Mr. Tan Qingsheng, Political Counsellor, Mr. Wang Dexin, Director of Political Office of the Chinese Embassy and Mr. Zhang Xuehai, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Division of ACC attended the meeting.

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping thanked the Embassy for their long-term strong support to the work of ACC and highly commended the effective efforts and contributions of the Embassy in promoting Cambodia-China and ASEAN-China relations. She said that the year 2017 marked the 50th Anniversary of the founding of ASEAN and China-ASEAN Year of Tourism Cooperation, and 2018 will be the 15th Anniversary of China-ASEAN strategic partnership. ACC would continue to strengthen communication with the Embassy and make greater contributions to the friendly exchanges and practical cooperation in all fields of Cambodia-China and ASEAN-China relations so as to benefit the people of the two sides.

Ambassador Xiong Bo made a brief introduction of development of China-Cambodia relations and the achievements of the practical cooperation between the two sides. He said that high-level mutual visits become even more frequent and communication and cooperation in all fields are further expanded and deepened. Cambodia has been playing a key role in China-ASEAN cooperation as an important member state of ASEAN and now the co-chair of Lancang-Meikong Cooperation. He spoke highly of the remarkable work done by ACC to promote ASEAN-China friendly exchanges and practical cooperation as an inter-governmental organization and said that the Embassy would like to keep close contact with ACC to bring the Cambodia-China and ASEAN-China relations to a higher level.
