ACC Attended the 2018 Belt and Road Logistics Forum on CCI-Southern Transport Corridor

On 27 April 2018, co-hosted by the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) Secretariat, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guangxi Committee and China Chamber of Commerce (CCOIC) Guangxi, the 2018 Belt and Road Logistics Forum on CCI-Southern Transport Corridor was held in Nanning. Nearly 300 representatives and experts from logistics enterprises and business associations of China, ASEAN, the United States, Germany as well as other countries attended the forum. Official of ASEAN-China Center was also invited to attend the forum.

The logistics forum is one of the activities of the 15th CABIS. Under the theme of New Opportunities for the International Logistics along the CCI-Southern Transport Corridor, the forum carried out speeches and dialogues on topics including CCI-Southern Transport Corridor and the world logistics pattern, analysis of the world logistics situation, new policy of CCI-Southern Transport Corridor, business opportunity of the Sino-Europe Railway Express(Qinzhou), and new model of cooperation on CCI-Southern Transport Corridor.

On behalf of the Guangxi government, Mr. Huang Weijing, Vice Governor, extended warm welcome to all the attendees and said that as an important hub of the CCI-Southern Transport Corridor, Guangxi is speeding up the construction of transportation and logistics infrastructure. He hoped that all parties would actively participate in the construction of the CCI-Southern Transport Corridor and share the opportunities for development. Mr. Zhangwei, Vice Chairman of CCPIT, commented that the construction of the CCI-Southern Transport Corridor not only promoted the cooperation between China and Singapore, but also promoted regional connectivity, helping to upgrade the construction of the CAFTA and expand results of win-win cooperation. Mr. Teo Siong Seng, Executive Chairman/ Managing Director of Pacific International Lines Pte Ltd and Chairman of Singapore Business Federation (SBF), suggested that enterprises from China and Singapore could establish all-round cooperation and jointly seek for the business opportunities of the third country, by taking advantage of Singapore’s geographical position connecting Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and even Africa together.

Representatives from China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, China Transport Association Intermodal Branch, COSCO Shipping Logistics, China Railway Container Transport and World Road Transport Organization also made keynote speeches at the forum.

The forum initiated the establishment of the China-ASEAN Multimodal Transport Alliance. The relevant parties signed the memorandum of understanding on the China-ASEAN Multimodal Transport Alliance at the scene.

The CCI-Southern Transport Corridor is the new channel to connect international land-sea trade logistics along the Belt and Road, which connecting Chongqing - Xinjiang - European international channel in the North and connecting Hongkong, Singapore and even the whole Southeast Asia by sea transportation from the Beibu Gulf port of Guangxi. Speeding up the construction of the CCI-Southern Transport Corridor will not only greatly enhance the trade facilitation level of Southeast Asia and China, but also help build an even closer ASEAN-China community of common destiny.
