ACC Secretary-General Met with Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN

On 8 August 2018, H.E. Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with H.E. Dr. Aladdin D. Rillo, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, in Tokyo, Japan. They exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between ACC and the ASEAN Secretariat.

Secretary-General Chen Dehai thanked the ASEAN Secretariat for its long-standing support to ACC and briefed on ACC’s recent work. He stated that this year marks the 15th anniversary of ASEAN-China strategic partnership and ASEAN-China Year of Innovation. It is of great importance for China-ASEAN relations to inherit the past and usher in the future. Recently, the ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers' Meeting was successfully held in Singapore. The two sides reached important consensus on deepening ASEAN-China strategic partnership. As the newly-appointed Secretary-General of ACC, he will actively perform his duties, carry out the work with a focus on the priority areas of ASEAN-China cooperation and the actual needs of all sides, and make contributions to the comprehensive and in-depth development of ASEAN-China relations.

Deputy Secretary-General Aladdin congratulated Secretary-General Chen Dehai on his assumption of office as Secretary-General of ACC, and commended ACC’s important role in promoting exchanges and cooperation between ASEAN and China in recent years. It is believed that, under the leadership of Secretary-General Chen Dehai, ACC will continue to break new grounds and make greater achievements. The ASEAN Secretariat is willing to continue to strengthen its ties with ACC, jointly explore cooperation projects, and work together to elevate ASEAN-China relations to a new level.
