ACC Official Attended the China-ASEAN Business Leaders Forum

On the afternoon of 12 September 2018, the China-ASEAN Business Leaders Forum was successfully held in Nanning. The forum was co-hosted by CCPIT and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and supported by ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and ASEAN national chambers of commerce and industry. About 350 guests attended the event, including government officials from ASEAN countries and China, representatives of international and regional organizations, chambers of commerce, the academia and the media. An official from Trade and Investment Division of ACC attended the forum.

Mr. Chen Zhou, Vice Chairman of CCPIT, Mr. Huang Daowei, Vice Chairman of CPPCC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee and Mr. Teo Siong Seng, Chairman of Singapore Business Federation attended the forum and delivered remarks. On behalf of the co-hosts, Mr. Chen Zhou suggested that we should give full play to multilateral mechanism between China and ASEAN and bilateral cooperation between China and countries along the “Belt and Road” project to enhance connectivity, build new platforms for economic and trade cooperation and jointly participate in building new channels for international trade and logistics, so as to promote economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges in the region.

As an important event under the framework of the CABIS, the China-ASEAN Business Leaders Forum has been held for eight consecutive years. This year’s theme was New Southern Transport Corridor, New Opportunity for Development. Representatives of the chambers of commerce and industry in ASEAN countries including Lao PDR, Myanmar and Singapore, as well as representatives of China's leading enterprises in developing ASEAN market such as Amer International Group, China Pacific Construction group and New Hope Group, conducted animated discussions on the topics of Chinese enterprises providing assistance for ASEAN countries’ development, strengthening ASEAN-China all-round practical cooperation, and promoting the building of the CCI-Southern Transport Corridor.

The forum also witnessed the signing of MoU of Formation of China-ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Associations (AFFA) Multimodal Transport Connectivity Alliance and China-ASEAN Supply Chain Management Platform for Agricultural Products, as well as the launching of ASEAN Service Centre of China Association for Small and Medium Commercial Enterprises.
