Media Professionals from ASEAN Countries Visited ACC

On 13 September 2018, a 24-member group of advanced training programme on media convergence organized by China-ASEAN Center of Advanced Studies of Communication University of China visited the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC). The group is comprises of government officials, senior media professionals and communications experts from ASEAN countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The delegation toured around the ACC picture exhibition, learned about the history of ACC and exchanged views with ACC officials. Mr. Wang Zhiquan, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Division (IPRD) briefed the delegation on ACC’s mandate and work. He said that ACC arranged a series of activities and achieved positive results in promoting China-ASEAN friendly exchanges and practical cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture, tourism as well as information and media. It is hoped that friends from the media will help raise the public awareness, especially that of the younger generation, of ACC and China-ASEAN relations, and play a unique role in promoting the sustainable development of China-ASEAN strategic partnership.

Christina CHIN, chief reporter of Malaysia’s The Star, Lyd Maritoni Lourdes LUNA, senior journalist of the Philippines’ Manila Times, and Zoe Kaun, managing director of Myanmar’s Yangon Media Group expressed appreciation of ACC’s hospitality, and optimism about the prospects for pragmatic cooperation between China and ASEAN in various fields. The journalists from the delegation also expressed willingness to write more stories about China-ASEAN cooperation in their future reports.
