ACC Attended the China International Big Data Industry Expo 2019 (2019-05-26)

On 26 May 2019, the China International Big Data Industry Expo 2019 was held in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. In his letter of congratulation to the Expo, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that it was imperative for countries to strengthen cooperation in the field of new-generation information technology. He stated that China attaches great importance to the development of big data industry and is willing to share opportunities for developing digital economy with other countries through joint efforts to explore new growth drivers and development paths by fostering new technologies, new forms and new models of business. He hoped that the participants could contribute wisdom to the development of the big data industry under the theme of "Innovation and Development-Data and Future”, for the common development of all countries and the community of shared future for mankind.

Mr. Wang Chen, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, read out President Xi Jinping’s letter of congratulation and delivered remarks at the opening ceremony. Mr. Suiri, Deputy-Speaker of Morocco Senate, Mr. Sun Zhigang, Secretary of Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Miao Wei, Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China, Mr. Yang Xiaowei, Vice Minister of Cyberspace Administration of China, also delivered remarks at the opening ceremony. Mr. Paul M. Romer, Nobel Prize winner in economics, Mr. Whitfield Diffie, Turing Award winner, and Mr. Gao Wen, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, made speeches.

The 4-day expo consisted of a series of activities including high-end dialogues, academic symposiums, launch event of research outcomes, “Night of Digital Valley”, etc.

Mr. Guo Chuanwei, Director of Trade and Investment Division of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), and Mme. Donlaporn Ajavavarakula, Minister Counsellor of the Royal Thai Embassy attended the opening ceremony and relevant activities upon invitation, including "High-End Dialogue on Digital Economy", "Global Block Chain Forum (GBF) - Technological Innovation and Integration" and "Night of Digital Valley".
