On 24 June 2019, Mr. Zhang Wenjun, Deputy Mayor of Nanning City, met with the ASEAN delegation of Smart City Study Visit. Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), and 15 officials and experts from six ASEAN countries including Mr. Drajat Wisnu Setyawan, Director of Performance Evaluation and Capacity Building for Local Government of Ministry of Home Affairs of Indonesia, Mr. Keomany Latsamy, Director-General of ASEAN Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR, and Ms. Hafizah Binti Abdullah, Deputy Director-General of ASEAN-Malaysia National Secretariat of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, as well as ACC officials attended the meeting.
Deputy Mayor Zhang Wenjun thanked ACC for organising the smart city study visit to Nanning. He briefed the delegation on Nanning’s development and its progress on smart city development in recent years. He said that China and ASEAN countries enjoy great potential and broad prospects in digital economy and smart city development. Nanning, as a core base for China-ASEAN Information Harbour, hopes to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN countries in a joint effort to build the Digital Silk Road and share the dividends of digital economy.
Secretary-General Chen Dehai thanked Nanning CPC Committee and government for the care and support for ACC over the years, commended Nanning for its efforts and notable achievements in building a smart city with Chinese characteristics, and appreciated the important contribution made by Nanning to boost the development of ASEAN-China relations. He said that ACC is ready to maintain close cooperation with Nanning, ACC’s important cooperation partner, and give full play to the role of Nanning Channel so as to jointly promote friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between ASEAN countries and China.
