ACC Organized the Trade and Investment Promotion Mission to Singapore

On 28 to 29 July 2019, ASEAN-China Centre(ACC)organized a visiting group missioned for trade and investment promotion to Singapore. The group was led by Mr. Guo Chuanwei, Director of Trade and Investment Division (TID) of ACC, and joined by about 20 representatives of Chinese enterprises in Beijing and Guangdong Province.

On 28 July, the group visited Mme. Zhong Manying, Economic and Commercial Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore. Director Guo Chuanwei introduced the relevant information about 2019 ASEAN-China Intelligent Industry Conference just held by ACC in Viet Nam as well as the purpose of the trade and investment promotion mission to Singapore, hoping that the Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of the Embassy could provide guidance for the Chinese entrepreneurs in developing trade and investment in Singapore. Minister Counsellor Zhong Manying said that Singapore is an important trade, financial and shipping center in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as a regional infrastructure construction, science and technology innovation center, which plays an important role in regional affairs. The investment environment of Singapore is good. She hoped that the Chinese entrepreneurs could understand Singapore's business environment and investment policy more accurately, make good use of its bridging and linking role, and better explore the Southeast Asian market. She also suggested the Chinese entrepreneurs to actively contact with all circles of Singapore, collect information, broaden network, study the development concept and meticulous market operation system of this country.

On 29 July, the group visited the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Singapore Manufacturing Federation, Business China, AMER International Group, and paid a call on Mr. Chan Soo Sen, former State Minister of Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry. The Chinese entrepreneurs exchanged views on the current situation of their enterprises and future plans in Singapore and other ASEAN countries. They also took notice the introduction of economic development and business environment of Singapore, discussed about trade and investment issues and cooperation with relevant of Singapore agencies and reached preliminary consensus.
The Chinese entrepreneurs expressed that Singapore has unique geographical and economic advantages in Southeast Asia. It is a platform with plentiful information and resources. It also has high-level development in financial system, arbitration, talent reserve and other aspects. They hope to make better use of these platforms and advantages to carry out more in-depth and extensive cooperation in Singapore and other Southeast Asia countries.
