ACC Secretary-General Chen Dehai Attended the Opening Ceremony of 2019 ASEAN-China (Guiyang) Belt and Road Culture and Tourism Exchange Week

The Opening Ceremony of 2019 ASEAN-China (Guiyang) Belt and Road Culture and Tourism Exchange Week was held in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province on 29 August 2019. H.E. Mr. Wei Guonan, Vice Governor of Guizhou Province, H.E. Mr. Chen Yan, Mayor of Guiyang City, Mr. Tan Awang Besar, Undersecretary of Policy Division (Culture), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, H.E. Mr. Lee Hyuk, Secretary-General of ASEAN-Korea Centre, H.E. Mr. Chote Trachu, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, Madam Mingkwan Metmowlee, President of ASEAN Tourism Association, and representatives of diplomatic missions of ASEAN countries were present among over 400 delegates from home and abroad. H. E. Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended and delivered remarks.

In his welcome speech, Vice Governor Wei Guonan said that, thanks to the BRI cooperation and joint efforts with ACC and all the other relevant partners, the ASEAN-China (Guiyang) Belt and Road Culture and Tourism Exchange Week has become a new platform for strengthening international exchanges and cooperation, especially for improving mutual understanding and practical cooperation between Guizhou Province and ASEAN countries. He hoped to see this platform generate good results and continued success in the years to come with growing influence in and outside of China.

Mayor Chen Yan conducted a detailed presentation on the socio economic development policies and measures of Guiyang City as well as the huge potentials and business opportunities in this promising land. He said that the Municipal People’s Government of Guiyang will make joint efforts with ACC in deepening the friendly exchanges and cooperation between ASEAN and Guiyang by giving full play to the bridging role of ASEAN-China (Guiyang) Belt and Road Culture and Tourism Exchange Week.

Secretary-General Chen Dehai stated that since ASEAN-China strategic partnership was established 16 years ago, the political mutual trust between the two sides has been deepening and the practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results. Guizhou Province and Guiyang City boast tremendous advantages and potentials in carrying out BRI cooperation with ASEAN countries. The 2nd ASEAN-China (Guiyang) Belt and Road Culture and Tourism Exchange Week has become another success story and will help Guizhou Province and its capital Guiyang speed up their strides towards a globally attractive destination with high-level connectivity.

On the same day, Party Secretary of Guiyang City Zhao Deming met with Secretary-General Chen Dehai and all the VIP guests of ASEAN countries participating in the Exchange Week. The Guest Country Malaysia held its cultural and tourism event Night of Malaysia in Guiyang. Secretary-General Chen Dehai attended the event and gave an interview on Guizhou’s practical cooperation with ASEAN.

Lasting from 26 to 31 August, the 2nd ASEAN-China (Guiyang) Belt and Road Culture and Tourism Exchange Week featured a series of activities including Culture and Tourism Dialogue, Toursim Exhibition, Tourism Product Launching, Investment Promotion and field tours to local key attractions.
