2019 “Soong Ching Ling Cup” ASEAN-China Youth Football Friendly Matches Successfully Held in Hangzhou (2019-08-06)

On 6 August 2019, the closing ceremony of the 2019 "Soong Ching Ling Cup" ASEAN-China Youth Football Friendly Matches was held successfully in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. H.E. Mr. Wang Jiarui, Chairman of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation(CSCLF)announced the closing of the matches. H.E. Mr. Yu Qun, Vice Chairman of CSCLF , Mr. Cai Yong, Member of Executive Committee of Chinese Football Association, H.E. Mr. Dang Minh Khoi, Viet Nam Ambassador to China delivered remarks. Ms. Kong Roatlomang, Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division of ACC attended the closing ceremony on behalf of ACC and read ACC Secretary-General Chen Dehai's message. Mr. Salermxay Thathongsak, Deputy Chief of Mission of Laos Embassy, Mr. Han Win Aung, Deputy Chief of Mission, Minister Counsellor of Myanmar Embassy, Ms. Natthira Krasaesarn, Minister Counsellor of Royal Thai Embassy and representatives from embassies of Cambodia, Malaysia, the Philippine and Consulate General of Singapore in Shanghai watched the final matches, cultural performances and presented awards to the winners together with the above-mentioned dignitaries.

The friendly matches lasted for 4 days. Ten U12 youth football teams from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam and China participated in the matches. After heated competition, Thailand won the first place, followed by China and Malaysia. The most valuable player prize was awarded to Thailand. Malaysia won the top scorer award. China received the best goalkeeper award and the fair competition award. Moreover, a variety of youth cultural exchange activities were organized during the event.

The ASEAN-China Centre has been co-hosting this event with China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and China Football Association for four consecutive years, with an aim to strengthen ASEAN-China youth friendship and understanding through sports and cultural exchanges, promote the common development of football cause in the region and contribute to the long-term development of ASEAN-China relations.

During their stay in Hangzhou, the representatives from ACC, ASEAN Member States' diplomatic missions in China and China Soong Ching Ling Foundation visited the Alibaba Enterprise Pavilion and the Liangzhu Museum.
