On 24 October 2019, Ms. Wang Hongliu, Director of General Affairs and Coordination Division of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the Inauguration Ceremony of Research Institute for ASEAN Economy (RIAE) at the invitation of Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. Director Wang Hongliu joined Dr. Li Wenlong, Director of RIAE, Mr. Chen Dehong, Vice Mayor of Shaoxing City, Dr. Han Seung-soo, Co-chairman of International Finance Forum (IFF), Former Prime Minister of Republic of Korea and Former President of UN General Assembly, Dr. Wei Jianing, research fellow and Counsel of Department of Macroeconomic Research in Development Research Center of the State Council of China and the leading officials from Shaoxing University and its Yuanpei College to deliver remarks at the ceremony. Representatives from think tanks, institutes and enterprises from home and abroad as well as representatives of teachers and students from Yuanpei College attended the event. After the Inauguration Ceremony, RIAE released the latest Report on Economy, Trade and Investment Development in ASEAN and China.
Director Wang Hongliu stated that the ASEAN-China partnership has gone beyond bilateral scope and gained increasing regional and global significance. By working together and building synergy for East Asian economic integration, ASEAN Member States and China could prosper together to each other’s benefits. She hoped that RIAE could become a platform for research, academic studies, information and consultation altogether that will enhance practical economic cooperation between ASEAN and China.
RIAE, co-founded by Shaoxing University Yuanpei College and Zhejiang Tusheng Digital Technology Company, aims at enhancing the joint-building of Belt and Road and other cooperation, providing policy advice to the governments and enterprises from ASEAN and China and assisting the researches by strengthening in-depth analysis of ASEAN economy and regularly releasing index on economy and trade of ASEAN and China.
