ACC Secretary-General Chen Dehai Attended the Meeting between Mayor of Wuhan and Diplomats of AMS

On 15 July 2021, Mr. Cheng Yongwen, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee and Mayor of Wuhan, met with representatives from international organizations and ASEAN Member States (AMS) embassies and consulates in China  attending the ASEAN-China Digital Economy Development and Cooperation Forum 2021. Mr. Myo Thant Pe, Ambassador of Myanmar to China, and Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the meeting.

Mr. Cheng Yongwen thanked AMS for their strong support to Wuhan’s COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control. He said Wuhan has accelerated the building of a national centre for economy, science and technology innovation, trade and logistics, international communication and regional finance. The city is committed to building five major industrial bases, including bases for memory, aerospace industry, cyber security, new energy and intelligent connected vehicles and massive health, and making every effort to create a market-oriented, legal and friendly international business environment. He hoped that both sides will take the forum as an opportunity to deepen all-round cooperation and contribute to the promotion of building a community of shared future.

Mr. Myo Thant Pe expressed his admiration for Wuhan's unyielding strength in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and the strong resilience in its post-pandemic recovery. Wuhan has a long history of friendly relations with AMS. He hoped that the two sides will strengthen exchanges and cooperation in fields including economy, trade, culture and education to achieve more fruitful results.

Mr. Chen Dehai said as an intergovernmental organization, ACC will continue to play the bridging role to promote and support Wuhan's opening-up and cooperation with AMS, and work together to advance the ASEAN-China strategic partnership to new hights.

Representatives of diplomatic missions of AMS in China, including Mr. Boun Inthabandith, Consul-General of the Lao PDR in Changsha, Mr. See Chee Kong, Minister of the Embassy of Malaysia in China, Ms. Virdiana Ririen Hapsari, Minister Counsellor of Economic Affairs of the Embassy of Indonesia, Mrs. Natthira Krasaesarn, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Thailand, Mr. Khouanchay Iemsouthi, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the the Embassy of Lao PDR, Mrs. Shwe Sin Oo, Economics Counsellor of the Embassy of Myanmar, Mr. Glenn Guieb Peñaranda, Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of the Philippines, Mr. Chng Ken-Wei, Centre Director (Beijing) of Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore, as well as representatives of the CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee and government attended the meeting.
