ACC Attended the Opening Ceremony of 2021 RCEP Members International Trade Digital Expo

On the morning of 28 July 2021, the opening ceremony of 2021 of RCEP Members International Trade Digital Expo was held in Beijing. The event was hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).  Mr. Zhang Shenfeng, Vice Chairman of CCPIT, Mr. Djauhari Oratmangun, Ambassador of Indonesia to China, Mr. Yang Xin, Charge d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, Mr. Kang Do-ho, Deputy Secretary-General of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), and Mr. Guo Chuanwei, Director of the Trade and Investment Division of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Mr. Zhang Shenfeng commented positively on the importance of the signing of RCEP and introduced the participation of enterprises in the Digital Expo. He said the CCPIT will increase its efforts to promote RCEP, provide precise services for enterprises and promote regional economic and trade cooperation to a new level.

Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun introduced the progress of bilateral economic and trade cooperation between Indonesia and China and reviewed the difficult process of RCEP negotiations. He believed that RCEP will help Indonesia enhance its ability to expand its market to countries outside the ASEAN region and further remove regional trade barriers.

Mr. Guo Chuanwei said digital trade, as a new forms and models of foreign trade, is becoming an important engine driving global trade growth. Overcoming the unfavourable factors caused by the pandemic, this year's Digital Expo was held in an innovative way and strived to build a new platform for regional economic and trade cooperation and exchange.

In their speeches, other guests also fully affirmed the positive role played currently by the digital economy in restoring the normal order of economy and promoting economic and trade cooperation and exchanges. They hoped that entrepreneurs from all participating countries would actively negotiate and explore business opportunities for mutual benefits. The Digital Expo, which was held from 28 July to 6 August 2021 online, was supported by ACC, the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Indonesia Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC).
