From 3-5 September 2021, the 8th Sichuan International Travel Expo (SCITE) was held at the International Tourism Trade Expo Centre in Leshan, Sichuan Province, combining offline and online platforms with four exhibition areas of quality tourism, tourism equipment, tourism integration and tourism products.
On the morning of 3 September, Madam Zhu Chunxiu, Vice Chairwoman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, Mr. Ma Bo, the Secretary of Leshan Municipal Committee, Mr. Dai Yunkang, Director-General of the Culture and Tourism Department of Sichuan Province, Mr. Lee Kwang Ho, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Chengdu and various delegates from tourism enterprises, think tanks, international organizations and media attended the Opening Ceremony. The delegation headed by Ms. Li Yaying, Deputy Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) participated in the major events of SCITE 2021 and broadly exchanged views with other delegations on regional tourism revitalization and development.
The main theme of SCITE 2021 was Quality Development of Culture and Tourism Industry. It is featured over 10 major events including the Opening Ceremony, Emei Forum, Tourism Commodities Competition, Human Resources Summit and Leshan Tourism Presentation. Strict measures against the COVID-19 pandemic were applied during the event. The Republic of Korea (RoK) was the Guest Country of Honor and Henan Province was the Guest Province of Honor. ACC was one of the Supporting Partners for SCITE 2021. Meanwhile, the Organizing Committee of SCITE 2021 and Pacific Asia Travel Association co-hosted online PATA Travel Mart 2021 (PTM2021).
