ACC Secretary-General Chen Dehai Attended the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Industrial Cooperation & China-ASEAN Industrial Chain, Supply Chain and Value Chain Integrated Development Forum

On 10 September 2021, co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT) and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Industrial Cooperation & China-ASEAN Industrial Chain, Supply Chain and Value Chain Integrated Development Forum was held in Nanning. 

Ms. Xu Xiaolan, Vice Minister of MIIT, Mr. Fei Zhirong, Vice Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Mr. Myo Thant Pe, Ambassador of Myanmar to China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) attended the event and delivered a keynote speech upon invitation. Over 300 representatives from revelant Chinese government bodies, People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, diplomatic missions of ASEAN Member States (AMS) in China, trade organisations and enterprises took part in the event and more than 60,000 people watched the live-streaming online.

Ms. Xu Xiaolan pointed out that ASEAN is an important partner to China under the Belt and Road international industrial cooperation and the building of a new development pattern. China will work with ASEAN countries to jointly tackle risks and challenges, actively promote industrial and supply chain cooperation, achieve common development and make new contribution to global economic recovery.

Mr. Fei Zhirong said that Guangxi will thoroughly implement important instructions of Chinese President Xi Jinping and the new development concepts, actively integrate into the new development pattern and facilitate in-depth integration of ASEAN-China industrial chain, supply chain and value chain, providing strong support for sustainable development of Guangxi and ASEAN.

Prince Norodom Sirivudh, former Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, Mr. Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, and Mr. Deng Xijun, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN, delivered speeches via video. They affirmed the important role of the Belt and Road international cooperation in enhancing regional connectivity and called for adherence to regional openness and multilateralism to further promote regional economic integration and development.

Mr. Chen Dehai pointed out that both ASEAN and China should actively integrate into the process of globalisation. Based on the division of labour among industrial chain, the two sides should jointly build high-level and high-quality "Belt and Road" cooperation, forming an industrial chain with stronger innovation capacity and higher added value through openning up and cooperation so as to elevate the bilateral practical cooperation to a higher level.

Mr. See Chee Kong, Minister at the Embassy of Malaysia in China, and Ms. Virdiana Ririen Hapsari, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Indonesia in China, participated in the high-end dialogue. Together with Chinese experts, scholars and leading entrepreneurs of ASEAN-China industrial cooperation, they exchanged views on expanding cooperation of industrial and supply chains, promoting the building of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and broadening the scope of international cooperation. 

With the theme of "Promote Cooperation in Industrial Chains and Integrate into the New Development Paradigm", the event was one of the high-level forums of the 18th China-ASEAN Expo. Besides the opening ceremony and main forum, three sub-forums were held, focusing on cooperation on industrial and supply chains innovation, equipment manufacturing, and cooperation in bio-medicine and health manufacturing and aiming at promoting deep integration of ASEAN-China industrial chain, supply chain and value chain based on the peculiar location advantages of Guangxi,.

At the forum, the ASEAN-China Trans-regional Cross-board Industrial and Supply Chains Cooperation Platform was formally established. The Think Tank Association for the Belt and Road Industry, Information and Communication Technology was inaugurated. 36 "Belt and Road" international industrial cooperation projects related to new energy, intelligent manufacturing, industrial Internet, special equipment, industrial park cooperation, investment and other areas were signed, with a total amount of more than 20 billion RMB.
