ACC Representatives Attended the ASEAN Plus Three Forum on Industrial Chain and Supply Chain Cooperation & Taihu East Asian Entrepreneurs Forum

On 29 July 2022, co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and Jiangsu Provincial Government, the ASEAN Plus Three Forum on Industrial Chain and Supply Chain Cooperation & Taihu East Asian Entrepreneurs Forum was held in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Mr. Hu Chunhua, Vice Premier of the State Council of China, Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Cambodia, Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce of Thailand, Mr. Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs of Indonesia, Mr. Xu Kunlin, Governor of Jiangsu Provincial Government, Mr. Li Fei, Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of China, Mr. Dato’ Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed, Minister in Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) of Malaysia, Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore, Mr. Dukgeun Ahn, Minister for Trade, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea (ROK), Mr. Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Mr. Zhang Xiangchen, Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization and other domestic and foreign guests delivered speeches on the forum. About 300 government officials, representatives from financial institutions, trade and investment promotion agencies, chambers of commerce and industry associations, enterprises and international organizations from ASEAN Plus Three (APT) countries attended the forum on-site, and nearly 2,000 people attended the forum online. Mr. Guo Chuanwei, Director of the Trade and Investment Division (TID) of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) was invited to attend the forum.

On the forum, the participants spoke freely about building an open, inclusive, safe, unimpeded, stable and sustainable regional industrial chain and supply chain. They hoped the participating countries should work together to continuously improve the level of interconnection within the framework of APT, providing space for industrial development, ensuring the continuous optimisation of the business environment, and promoting the green, innovative and healthy digital industrial transformation.

On the afternoon of 29 July 2022, Mr. Guo Chuanwei was invited to attend the sub-forum on Finance for Industrial Chain and Supply Chain and make remarks. He said that after the commencement of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the trade and economy cooperation among ASEAN Member States (AMS) and China, Japan and ROK has become closer and released vitality. On the basis of establishing an open and rules-based multilateral trade and investment system, RCEP will further promote cooperation in trade, investment, supply chain, sustainable infrastructure and other fields in the future, which will effectively enhance the stability and resilience of the global industrial chain and supply chain.

About a hundred representatives from governments of China and AMS, financial institutions, business associations, universities, think tanks and enterprises conducted in-depth exchanges under the theme of “Powering Industry Convergence through Finance”.

At noon, Mr. Guo Chuanwei was invited to the meeting with Mr. Cao Lubao, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and the banquet, together with representatives from business associations from AMS, Japan, ROK, international organisations and enterprises.
