ACC Secretary-General Chen Dehai Attended Opening Ceremony of the 6th Silk Road International Exposition and Round-Table Meeting of RCEP Regional Economic and Trade Cooperation 2022

On 14 August 2022, co-hosted by National Development and Reform Commission of China, Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) of China, All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (ACFROC), All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), State Administration for Market Regulation and the Government of Shaanxi Province, the 6th Silk Road International Exposition and the Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation Between East and West China (hereinafter referred to as the 6th SRIE) opened in Xi’an. With the theme of “Strengthening Inter-connectivity and Integration for Common Progress, Shared Benefits and Win-win Results”, the 6th SRIE was held both online and offline. Mr. Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Mr. Jamshid Khodjayev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan (Country of Honour), delivered a video speech. Mr. Liu Guozhong, Party Secretary of CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Congress, addressed and announced the opening of the 6th SRIE. Mr. Lian Xiaomin, Member of the CPC Leading Group and Candidate for Vice Chairman of ACFROC, Mr. Ren Hongbin, Chairman of CCPIT, Ms. Wang Lixia, Chairwoman of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (Province of Honour), and Ms. Zhang Yizhen, Chairwoman of Jiangsu (Province of Honour) Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), delivered speeches. Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the opening ceremony.

On the afternoon of 14 August, the Round-Table Meeting of RCEP Regional Economic and Trade Cooperation 2022, Shaanxi, China, co-hosted by MOFCOM and the Government of Shaanxi Province, was held in Xi’an. Mr. Ye Niuping, Vice Governor of the Government of Shaanxi Province, Mr. Li Fei, Member of the CPC Leading Group and Assistant Minister of MOFCOM, and Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ACC, attended and addressed the meeting. Mr. Som Visal, Consul General of Cambodia in Xi’an, Mr. Kim Han Kyu, Consul General of Republic of Korea in Xi’an, Mr. Chen Ning, Deputy Director General of Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs of MOFCOM, representatives of the Embassies of Indonesia, New Zealand and Australia in China, as well as representatives of Japan External Trade Organisation Beijing Office, Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce and related enterprises, exchanged their views at the meeting.

Secretary-General Chen Dehai said in his speech that since RCEP came into effect, the circle of friends of RCEP member countries has been expanding with deepened regional economic connectivity, providing new impetus for regional economic recovery and development. The continued, in-depth implementation of RCEP will further promote regional trade and investment cooperation and inject new vitality into regional economic development and prosperity. Going forward, ACC will continue to give full play to its role as a bridge to actively support, promote and participate in exchanges and cooperation between ASEAN Member States (AMS) and Shaanxi Province in various fields, and make unremitting efforts to promote local, provincial and municipal cooperation between AMS and China to build a closer ASEAN-China community.

Under the theme of “To Share the Opportunity of Development, To Realise Win-win Cooperation”, the round-table meeting was attended by about 150 representatives from embassies, consulates and business organisations of RCEP member countries in China, relevant government departments of Shaanxi Province, departments of commerce of other provinces and regions, and major foreign-funded and foreign trade enterprises in Shaanxi Province.
