ACC Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun Met with Ambassador of Myanmar to China

On 23 December 2022, H. E. Mr. Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with H. E. Mr. U Tin Maung Swe, Ambassador of Myanmar to China who has just assumed office. Ms. Wang Hongliu, Director of the General Affairs and Coordination Division, Mr. Guo Chuanwei, Director of the Trade and Investment Division, Mr. Fang Qiang, Deputy Director of the Information and Public Relations Division of ACC, Minister Counsellor Ms. Zin Mar Htwe and Counsellor Ms. Aye Mon Paing of the Embassy of Myanmar in China attended the meeting.

Secretary-General Shi first expressed congratulation on Ambassador U Tin Maung Swe’s assumption of office and extended his appreciation for the long-standing and strong support rendered by the Government and the Embassy of Myanmar to ACC. ASEAN and China are linked by mountains and rivers, and Myanmar and China have enjoyed deep pauk-phaw friendship. Against the current international backdrop, a sound ASEAN-China relationship could create a more peaceful and stable environment for the common development of both sides. ACC is willing to keep close contact with the Embassy, carry out more cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, tourism and agriculture, and play an active role as a bridge to deepen friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between ASEAN and China as well as Myanmar and China, so as to constantly promote ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

Ambassador U Tin Maung Swe congratulated on Secretary-General Shi’s assumption of office and the 11th anniversary of the establishment of ACC. He stressed that Myanmar and China are close as brothers, and the common interest has been continuously expanding in recent years. Especially, Myanmar has a strong desire to strengthen cooperation with China on education and agricultural and rural development, in which he hoped ACC could provide assistance and create more opportunities. He himself and the Embassy will continue to give support to ACC’s work and jointly promote the development of Myanmar-China and ASEAN-China relations with ACC.

After the meeting, the Ambassador and Embassy representatives attended the reception on celebrating the 11th anniversary of the establishment of ACC and the assumption of office of Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun.
