ACC Actively Participated in the 6th ASEAN-China Cooperation Week

From 16 to 22 September 2013, the 6th ASEAN-China Educational Cooperation Week (the Week), co-organized by Chinese Foreign Ministry, Education Ministry and Guizhou Provincial Government was held in Guiyang, Guizhou. Mr. Lu Yongxiang, the former Chairman of the National People's Congres Standing Committee delivered speech, Mr. Dai Bingguo, the former State Counsillor declared the openning and Mr. Chen Miner, Governor of Guizhou delivered welcoming remarks. Mr. Chen Shun, Assistant Minister of Education Ministry, Ambassador Mr. Luo Zhaohui, H.E. Ambassador Magdalene Teo of Brunei and ACC Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang attended the opening ceremony. In total 17 activities were held during the Week.

As an important partner of Education Department of Guizhou, ASEAN-China Centre deeply participated in the preparing work for the Week from very beginning. In March 2013, ACC led a vocational colleges delegation to visit Indonesia and Viet Nam. In May, ACC held ACC-GPDE-SEAMEO joint meeting to discuss on the program and assignments of the Week and extended invitations to ASEAN experts. During the Week, ACC hosted a series of meaningful activities including Educational Information Sharing Meeting, Multi-media Exhibition of Brunei, Forum of Young Education Officials, supported the seminar on mutual recognition of diploma and educational quality assurance and attended the opening ceremony of the week, ASEAN-China Achievements on Vocational Education and several thematic symposiums.  

Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang delivered speech at the opening ceremony and introduced ACC and its work on education area at the information sharing meeting. During the Week, ACC signed tripartite cooperation agreement with Education Department of Guizhou and SEAMEO, signed MoU on establishment of ASEAN-China Language and Culture Centre with Beijing Language and Culture University. Through the efforts of ACC, 20 officials and experts of SEAMEO and its 10 regional centre attended several activities of the Week.
