On 14 April 2014, Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang of (ASEAN-China Centre)ACC met with Mrs. Yang Xinliang, Deputy Director General of the International Finance Department of China Development Bank (CDB) .
Secretary-General Ma briefed on ACC’s efforts in promoting the two-way trade and investment between ASEAN and China. He said that ASEAN and China are strongly complementary in areas of solar energy, agriculture, aqua-farming and many other areas. He hoped that ACC would work together with CDB to support the SMEs of ASEAN and China and further consolidate cooperation between both sides.
Mrs. Yang Xinliang briefed on the latest development of the ASEAN-China Inter-Bank Association (IBA). She further elaborated on some CBD-financed projects that have been carried out in ASEAN Member States. Mrs. Yang reiterated CDB’s willingness to cooperate with ACC closely and explore new ways to promote ASEAN-China economic and trade relations by providing better financial services.
Secretary-General Ma and Mrs. Yang also exchanged views on concrete measures to facilitate the trade between ASEAN and China.
In 2013, the Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) took over the chairmanship of the ASEAN-China Inter-Bank Association (IBA) from CDB. The ASEAN-China IBA chairmanship is rotated among ASEAN countries in alphabetical order. The ASEAN-China IBA is made up of the BIBD, CDB, Cambodia's Canadia Bank, Indonesia's Bank Mandiri, the Lao Development Bank, Malaysia's Commerce International Merchant Bank, the Myanmar Foreign Trade Bank, the Philippines' BDO Unibank, Singapore's DBS Bank, Thailand's Kasikornbank and the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam.
