A Call for Entries has been posted on the SEAMEO official website (www.seameo.org) in early June 2014, which marked the official launch of the SEAMEO-ACC Sports Education Innovation Award.
The Award, first of its kind in sports education, is among the 4 awards that SEAMEO has set up with partners such as SEAMEO-Jasper Research Award with the Government of Canada, SEAMEO-Japan ESD Award with MEXT Japan, and the SEAMEO-Australia Education Links Award with the Government of Australia.
Themed "Amity, Creativity and Development through School Sports", the 2014 SEAMEO-ACC Sports Education Innovation Award will recognize primary and secondary schools in ASEAN countries that have exemplary projects or activities in those aspects. The Award will be granted at three levels and in primary and secondary school categories separately. Each of the 6 recipient schools will be awarded with a Plaque of Recognition and a combination of sports facilities and equipment worth of 100,000, 60,000, and RMB40,000 Yuan respectively.
The awards will be granted during the SEAMEO HOM in November 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand. The Beijing Taiao Sports Culture Development CO. LTD will provide the sports equipment and shoulder the costs of the awardees for their trip to Bangkok. Taiao, an official business partner of ACC since 2012, has pledged to donate sports equipment worth of RMB10,000,000 Yuan to ACC for ASEAN-China cooperation and exchanges in education.
