ASEAN Delegation Visited Xiangyang and Shiyan of Hubei Province

On 18-21 May 2015, Mr. Li Yuan, Director of the Trade and Investment Division (TID) of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) accompanied the delegation of Ambassador, Counsellors and other diplomats from ASEAN Embassies in China including Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam, to visit Xiangyang and Shiyan in Hubei Province. 

Mr. Wang Junzheng, Member of the Standing Committee of Hubei Provincial Party Committee and the Secretary of Xiangyang, and Mr. Zhang Weiguo, Mayor of Shiyan, held meetings with the delegation. They made comprehensive introductions of the two cities on their economic and social development. They sincerely hoped that the delegation could provide more reliable information and beneficial policies for the enterprises in the two cities which were interested in investing in ASEAN countries, as well as help push forward the cooperation between ASEAN countries and the two cities in trade and investment, tourism, culture and other fields. 

The delegation recognized the advantage and potential of Xiangyang and Shiyan. They said that ASEAN countries would take the “One Belt One Road” Strategy as an opportunity to attract more enterprises from the two cities to invest in ASEAN countries, as well as strengthen the communication and cooperation with the two cities in an all-around manner.

The delegation also visited the Xiangyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, some high-tech enterprises and the famous historical and cultural legacy as well as Wudang Mountain.
