ACC Secretary-General Met with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia

On 25 August 2015, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping met with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia H.E. Mr. A.M. Fachir in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Permanent Representative of Indonesia to ASEAN Ambassador Rahmat Pramono also attended the meeting.

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping said that Indonesia, as an important ASEAN Member State as well as home of the ASEAN Secretariat, had a great influence in Southeast Asia. The Chinese government had attached great importance to Indonesia’s role in ASEAN. ACC would like to seek for Indonesia’s continued support in its effort to promote the functional cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, culture, education and tourism, and would like to hear Indonesia’s views and suggestions in order to improve the work of ACC. Next year would mark the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations. ACC would further promote collaborative activities with ASEAN Member States to implement the important initiatives put forward by the leaders, and deepen cooperation in the related areas, thus contributing more tangible benefits to the peoples in ASEAN and China.

The Indonesian side expressed its willingness to strengthen ties with ACC and looked forward to participating in ACC activities, and wished to see more accomplishments in ASEAN-China functional cooperation.

Vice Foreign Minister congratulated Ambassador Yang for her assumption of the post as the ACC Secretary-General. He expressed that ACC, as an important platform to promote ASEAN-China functional cooperation, needed to be more active and creative to better serve the governments and peoples in China and ASEAN Member States. He added that Indonesia would continue to support ACC’s work by actively participating in ACC activities and ensuring that ASEAN would fully utilize ACC as a link and bridge between ASEAN and China, in efforts to promote more substantive as well as sustainable ASEAN-China relations.
