ACC Secretary-General Attended the Seminar on 2015 China–Viet Nam Economic, Trade, Investment and Tourism Cooperation

On 20 August 2015, ASEAN-China Centre Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping was invited to attend a Seminar on 2015 China-Viet Nam Economic, Trade, Investment and Tourism Cooperation in Beijing, which was organized by the Embassy of Viet Nam in Beijing.

In her speech, Secretary-General Yang Xiuping expressed that Viet Nam was not only an important member of ASEAN, but also a friendly neighbor of China and the two countries had been connected by rivers and mountains with culture and connected fate. Leaders of two the countries had reached many consensus on further developing comprehensive strategic partnership. The two countries had significantly contributed to the economic development of the region and ASEAN-China relations. In the economic sector, there were great comparative advantages and complementarities between China and Viet Nam. Bilateral trade volume had grown steadily and great achievements were made in investment as well as tourism cooperation. Both sides should further promote cooperation in infrastructure, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), maritime development, and financial area in order to help realize the effective connection of “One Belt and One Road” and “Two Corridors and One Circle” so as to generate wealth for the peoples of two countries.

Secretary-General Yang also emphasized that China and ASEAN were both important powers of the regional development. Development is the biggest common benefit, stability is the biggest common request, and cooperation is the only choice of the two countries. At the end of this year, the ASEAN Economic Community would be realized and would help deepen regional development and integration. ASEAN-China functional cooperation had entered a new area and China-Viet Nam relations were having new opportunities. ACC wished the two countries could make new contributions to the development of ASEAN-China  relations as well as regional prosperity and stability. ACC attached great importance to maintain close exchanges and communication with Viet Nam and would play active roles to enhance China-Viet Nam and China-ASEAN practical cooperation and friendship.

H.E. Ambassador Nguyen Van Tho expressed his appreciation to ACC for its unceasing support to the Embassy of Viet Nam in Beijing. He said that bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership had gained significant progress. The two countries could jointly implement the consensus reached by the leaders, grasping the opportunities of global integration, keeping the pace and balance development of bilateral trade and economic ties, and promoting a sustainable development of the Asia-Pacific region.

     More than 80 attendees from Viet Nam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, National Tourism Bureau, China Social and Science Institution, China People's University, Fangchenggang City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as well as enterprises from China and Viet Nam also actively participated in the Seminar.
