ACC Attended the 8th Asian Women’s Forum

On 16 September 2015, the 8th Asian Women's Forum was held in Tianjin. The Forum was co-hosted by Tianjin Women’s Federation, Foreign Affairs Office of Tianjin Municipal People’s Government and Asian Women’s Development Association. At the invitation of the hosts, Ms. Huang Ying and Ms. Hong Mee Jien, Director and Deputy Director of General Affairs and Coordination Division (GACD) of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the Forum.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the United Nation's World Conference on Women in 1995 and the implementation of the basic state policy of equality between men and women, the Forum, with the theme of “Concentrate the Power of Women, Promote the Asia-Pacific Prosperity”, focused on women issues of social concern, exploring the successful experiences of women development, strengthening the communication and dialogues between men and women and promoting the friendly exchanges among Asian women.

Over 400 participants attended the Forum. They were from 18 countries such as Japan, Mongolia, ROK, Turkey, Indonesia, the Philippines and Viet Nam and 12 provinces and cities of the Mainland China as well as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. The participants had in-depth discussions on “Power of Women - Promoting Coordinated Development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province”, “Women’s Value - Social Progress and Women’s Contribution” and “Gender Coordinated Development - The Process of Gender Equality and Challenges between Men and Women”.
