ACC Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping Attended ASEAN-China Food Enterprises Matching Meeting

On 10 September 2015, ASEAN-China Food Enterprises Matching Meeting, co-organized by ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce, was held in Shanghai. ACC Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping attended the Meeting and delivered remarks. Vice President of China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce Mr. Rong Weidong chaired the Meeting. Consul-General of Laos in Shanghai Ms. Sisamay Luangchandavong, representatives of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai and Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China, and about 200 participants from food enterprises, e-commerce companies attended the event.

Secretary-General Yang extended a warm welcome to all the participants. She expressed that building a Community of Common Destiny, One Belt One Road, 2+7 Cooperation Framework and upgrading the China-ASEAN FTA (CAFTA) charted the future course of ASEAN-China cooperation. Benefitting from CAFTA, food trade and investment cooperation between ASEAN and China registered a robust growth. ASEAN was China’s 2nd largest trade partner in terms of food. The international food trade policy and cross-border e-commerce provided favorable opportunities for the growth of food trade. She expected enterprises from both sides grasped the opportunity of CAFTA, explored innovative cooperation model of online and offline, and elevated cooperation to a higher level. ACC would like to make more efforts to facilitate the matching and cooperation among enterprises of ASEAN and China.

Vice President Rong Weidong remarked that food industry in ASEAN and China embraced broader prospects for further development. It was expected that the Meeting would serve as a meaningful platform for communication and cooperation among food enterprises of ASEAN and China.

The participants conducted in-depth exchanges of views on a wide range of issues including the quality inspection and quarantine policy in China, food industry development trend, online and offline practice and marketing strategy, etc..

At the sideline of the event, Secretary-General Yang Xiuping and Lao Consul-General Sisamay Luangchandavong inspected the booths of the China Health Food Expo 2015. Secretary-General Yang encouraged enterprises to actively participate in the building of One Belt One Road, explore business opportunities and further explore ASEAN market.
