ASEAN-China Film Cooperation Achieved Positive Results

On 20 September 2016, the ASEAN-China Film Cooperation Forum, co-sponsored by ASEAN-China Centre, the Film Bureau of State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, Shaanxi Bureau of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and the Executive Committee of the 3rd Silk Road International Film Festival, was held in Xi’an City. It became a highlight of the ASEAN Film Week during the 3rd Silk Road International Film Festival. 

The forum was moderated by Mr. Jia Leilei, Vice President of Chinese National Academy of Arts. Mr. Li Zhen, President of the School of Journalism and Communication, Shaanxi Normal University, Mr. Zhou Tiedong, former President of Beijing Novo United Films, Mr. Liu Kailuo, President of Heyi Pictures, Mr. Jack Neo, a Singaporean film director, and Mr. Gandi Priambodho, Chief Representative of the State Film Production of Indonesia attended as keynote speakers. 

Themed on ASEAN-China film exchange for the promotion of people-to-people bonds between the two sides, the speakers discussed topics such as common development of ASEAN-China film industries, bridging cultures of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road with ASEAN-China film exchange, and initiating film exchange and cooperation projects in conjunction with cooperation between the two sides. The speakers made constructive views and suggestions on the bases of cooperation, methods and policies of co-production, and integration of Internet and film production between ASEAN and China. They expressed their willingness to contribute to the film exchange and cooperation between the two sides. The speakers also interacted with the audience and answered questions. The forum was conducted in an active atmosphere with rich contents.

Before the forum, the ASEAN Finance Agency, Xi’an Qujiang Film and TV Investment (Group) Co., LTD and Zhejiang Dongyang Mangrove Film and Television jointly signed letters of intent respectively with Viet Nam Glai Phong Film Joint-stock Company, the State Film Production of Indonesia, and a Singaporean film production company. An Initiative on holding the 2017 ASEAN-China Film Festival with the State Film Production of Indonesia was also signed.
