ACC Organized Investment Mission to Thailand

On 23-28 October 2016, ACC organized an investment mission to Bangkok, Chiangmai, and Chiangrai provinces of Thailand. The mission was led by Mr. Li Yuan, Director of Trade and Investment Division of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC). The mission comprised of Ms. Parinda Nirothsamabut, Commercial Counsellor of the Royal Thai Embassy in China and Chinese entrepreneurs. The mission visited Thai-Chinese Rayong Industrial Zone, held meetings with Chamber of Commerce of Chiangmai and Chiangrai provinces, and called on the Economic and Commercial Counsellor of China to Thailand, Consul General of China in Chiangmai, and Economic and Commercial Consul in Chiangmai respectively.

The Thai-Chinese Rayong Industrial Zone is a modern industrial zone which is jointly developed by Thai and Chinese investors. With the support of the two governments, this industrial zone have gained recognition by the Chinese Government as the only China’s national overseas economic and trade cooperation zone in Thailand, with an aim to build a modernized comprehensive zone with manufactures, exhibitions, storages, logistics, commerce, and living facilities. The mission was briefed by and interacted with the representative of the industrial zone on its infrastructure and utilities of the industrial zone, business, and living facilities, beneficial policies, investment procedure, and so on.

During the meeting with Chiangmai and Chiangrai Chambers of Commerce, Director Li Yuan made a brief introduction of ACC’s efforts and achievements in promoting ASEAN-China trade and investment cooperation. He mentioned that China and Thailand have had a close political, economic, and trade relationship. The two sides had great potential for cooperation in the areas of infrastructure, energy, natural resources, and agricultural products. The entrepreneurs of both sides should, therefore, seize this opportunity to explore and enhance cooperation so as to achieve a win-win results. As an inter-governmental organization co-founded by the governments of China and 10 ASEAN Member States, ACC would continue to provide assistance to facilitate the enterprises for cooperation. The representative of ASEAN-China E-Commerce Trading Centre, established in Shanghai, introduced its operation and urged Thai entrepreneurs to join their platform. Presidents of Chiangmai and Chiangrai Chambers of Commerce, as well as Thai entrepreneurs from the areas of steel & iron, architecture, education, agricultural products, food and logistics attended the said meeting. They thanked ACC for leading this investment mission to Thailand, and look forward to strengthening cooperation with Chinese entrepreneurs to enlarge the business volume. The mission visited the Chinese owned Che Fong Logistics (Thailand) Co., Ltd in Chiangrai.

The Economic and Commercial Counsellor of China to Thailand, Consul General of China in Chiangmai and Economic and Commercial Consul in Chiangmai gave orientation on the business environment in Thailand to the mission.
