Leader of Dehong Autonomous Prefecture Met with ASEAN Media Delegation

On 26 October 2016, the ASEAN media delegation reporting on the theme of “Jointly Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road” arrived in Dehong Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province. Mr. Li Yongchun, Vice Secretary-General of the Committee of the Communist Party of China of Dehong, met with the delegation. H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, ACC Secretary-General, Ms. Chen Shi, Editor-in-chief of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration and concurrently President of the China Report Magazine, and Mr. Ning Dejin, Vice Director-General of the Information Office of Yunnan Province, attended the meeting.

After extending his warm welcome to the ASEAN journalists, Mr. Li Yongchun said that Dehong is reputed as the Land of Peacocks, the people of different ethnic groups lived together in harmony. It is also richly bestowed with colourful cultural heritage and diversified green biological resources. Dehong is the China's golden trading port with ASEAN countries and Yunnan’s frontier of opening to the outside world. He expected the journalists to give an in-depth study of the social-economic development of Dehong and its cooperation with ASEAN countries, for an extensive reportage in ASEAN.

Mme. Yang Xiuping and Ms. Chen Shi each gave a briefing on the reporting trip, saying that the ASEAN press corps will make field trips to WanDing and Ruili Ports of Entry (both Category One ports) in Dehong to make a comprehensive reporting on cross-border trade and friendly exchanges between China and Myanmar. It was hoped that the reporting trip would play a positive role in expanding exchanges and cooperation between Dehong and ASEAN.
