ACC Secretary-General And Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to China Met with Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province

On 24 October 2016, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and H.E. Ms. Magdalene Teo, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to China met with Mr. Zhang Lei, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province.

Vice Governor Zhang extended a warm welcome to the delegation and cited that Jiangsu is working hard to advance economic transformation and upgrading, build modern industrial centre and R&D centre and turn itself into a modern manufacturing base. In this context, Jiangsu province is ready to increase exchanges and cooperation with Brunei and other ASEAN member states and take an active part in China-ASEAN cooperation and deepen people-to-people and cultural cooperation for win-win outcome and make greater contribution to China-Brunei and China-ASEAN relations. He looks forward to continued strong support and assistance from the Brunei Embassy in Beijing and ACC.

Ambassador Teo spoke highly of the achievements that Jiangsu province has made in its economic and social development and said that Jiangsu province and Brunei have strengthened exchanges in recent years and enjoyed broad prospects for further cooperation in education, tourism, and culture. The Brunei government is diversifying its economy and hopes to learn from the good experience of China, especially Jiangsu Province, in terms of building industrial parks. Enterprises and friends from all sectors in Jiangsu province are welcomed to Brunei for business or sightseeing. 

Secretary-General Yang outlined ACC’s mandate and activities, highly commended the efforts made by Jiangsu province to advance practical cooperation between ASEAN and China in recent years. As ASEAN-China relations have come to a new height, Jiangsu Province is entering into new opportunities to engage in ASEAN-China cooperation. ACC will continuously serve as a bridge to facilitate exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu province and ASEAN.
