ACC Participated in the 15th World Toilet Summit and Expo

On 27 October 2016, the 15th World Toilet Summit and Expo (WTS) was held in Kuching of Sarawak State of Malaysia. The event, held for the first time in Sarawak, was organized by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and supported by the State Government. Dedicated to the theme ‘Happy Toilet Healthy City’, this year’s summit aimed to identify the main challenges countries face in developing and enhancing sustainable sanitation infrastructure. Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani, State Secretary; Dato James Chan Khay Syn, Mayor of Kuching South and Prof. Jack Sim, Founder of WTO attended the summit and delivered speeches. The experts in the fields of international environmental Sanitation, UN World Health Organization, the relevant countries and organizations, and the ACC representative participated in the meeting. 

Mr. Chen Kesong, Tourism Officer of ECTD delivered a presentation and exchanged views with other representatives. In his presentation, Mr. Chen Kesong mentioned that the Environmental Sanitation was one of the basic essential factors in the process of tourism, and the important manifestation of civilization of one country. Since its inception, ACC has actively promoted ASEAN-China cooperation in tourism, which helped improve tourism infrastructure, environmental sanitation, and toilet condition. Year 2017 has been declared as the ASEAN-China Year of Tourism Cooperation and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN. Thus, ACC will take the opportunity to combine the said theme with the Visit ASEAN @ 50 theme to promote exchanges and cooperation between ACC and ASEAN countries so as to enhance tourism development in the region.
