On 16 December 2016, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), Beijing Chaoyang District Commission of Commerce, and China Sinopharm International Corporation (hereinafter referred as “Sinopharm International”) co-organized the activity of “Experiencing the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)” in Beijing. About 60 people, including H.E. Mr. Dato’ Zainuddin Bin Yahya, Ambassador of Malaysia to China, Ms. Thanda Khine, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Union of Myanmar, Mr. Nguyen Van Chieu, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, representatives from Embassies of Indonesia, Lao PDR and the Philippines, officials from Chaoyang District Commission of Commerce, Foreign Affairs Office, and Commission of Health and Family Planning, as well as participants from Sinopharm International and media, attended the activity. Ms. Huang Ying, Director of General Administration and Coordination Division, delivered a speech on behalf of ACC, Mr. Mouavixay Palee, Deputy Director of Trade and Investment Division and relevant officials participated in the event.

During the activity, diplomats from embassies of ASEAN countries watched introductory video of Sinopharm International, attended the lecture by a well-known TCM expert, experienced pulse diagnosis and TCM massage, and made a field visit to the Museum of Chinese Medicine at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. They all believed that this activity had provided a good opportunity for ASEAN diplomats in China to know more about TCM. Medical and public health sector is one of the priority areas of ASEAN-China practical cooperation, and the two sides should further strengthen communication and jointly explore the potential for future collaboration.
