ACC Secretary-General Attended Shandong University Culture Festival

On 24 April 2018, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the 17th Shandong University (SDU) Culture Festival and visited the International Cultural Exhibition. Attended the events were representatives from Embassies of Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Viet Nam as well as Ms. Zhou Hui, Deputy Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division of ACC.

The SDU Culture Festival, since its inception in 2001, has been successfully held for 16 years. It has already become an important platform and a shining brand for Chinese and international students to enhance mutual understanding and showcase cultural diversity. The 17th SDU Culture Festival included an International Cultural Exhibition, a Gala Performance and an International Cultural Forum. Under the theme of “Culture-Confidence”, the International Cultural Exhibition set up 17 booths to demonstrate cultures of various countries including such ASEAN countries as Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam. International students from over 70 countries actively promoted their own cultures by showcasing local specialties, interactive photo-shooting and cuisine-tasting.

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping visited the booths and interacted with students from ASEAN countries. She encouraged students from both ASEAN and China to study diligently so as to further promote ASEAN-China friendship and make positive contributions to the development of their own countries as well as an even brighter future of ASEAN-China relations.
