ACC Secretary-General Attended Higher Education Roundtable Meeting Themed "the Rise of Asian Universities"

On 10 April 2018, Higher Education Roundtable Meeting themed “the Rise of Asian Universities” was held during the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2018. Leaders from such 12 Asian universities as Tsinghua University, Universitas Indonesia, University of Malay, University of Yangon, National University of Singapore, and Chulalongkorn University attended the meeting.

The roundtable meeting had a lively discussion on such topics as the responsibility and mission of Asian universities, cultural heritage, innovation and technology transfer, and global challenges. Participants pointed out that with the rapid development of Asian economies, Asia is playing an increasingly important role in global affairs. Asian universities should seize the opportunity to continuously improve their teaching level, give full play to their role of talent cultivation, technological innovation, and service to the society, and provide Asian wisdom to regional development and global governance. The participants expressed their belief that the Asian University Alliance has provided an effective platform for exchanges and cooperation among universities in the region. They would work together to cultivate young leaders who are rooted in Asia’s diverse cultures, and to promote the rise of higher education in Asia.
