On 16 May 2018, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with H.E. Mr. Huang Xilian, Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN, and exchanged views on ASEAN-China practical cooperation.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping spoke highly of the efforts made by Ambassador Huang Xilian and Chinese Mission to ASEAN to promote ASEAN-China relations, and expressed her appreciation to them for their long-time support and assistance to ACC. She briefed on ACC’s recent work. She said that ACC is ready to cooperate closely with Chinese Mission to ASEAN, on the bases of successfully co-hosted the “ASEAN-China Belt and Road Business Forum: the First E-Commerce Cooperation Dialogue”, continue to push forward the friendly exchanges and practical cooperation in all areas between the two sides, and to jointly promote ASEAN-China strategic partnership to a new high and benefit the people of two sides.
Ambassador Huang Xilian commended the work of ACC and introduced the latest developments of China-ASEAN relations. He said Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visited the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, and attended the launching ceremony of celebration activities marking the 15th anniversary of China-ASEAN strategic partnership, which fully demonstrated that Chinese government attaches great importance to and support ASEAN. This visit is another milestone in the development of China-ASEAN relations. He said the Chinese Mission to ASEAN is ready to strengthen communication with ACC, and to take the opportunity the 15th anniversary of China-ASEAN strategic partnership and China-ASEAN Year of Innovation, to jointly make new and greater contribution to China-ASEAN relations.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping and Ambassador Huang Xilian also unveiled the event “ASEAN in the Eyes of Chinese Diplomats: Chapter Indonesia” held by Chinese Mission to ASEAN and had exchanges with young diplomats of the Mission, encouraging them to work diligently under the leadership of Ambassador Huang to contribute their wisdom and strength to the development of ASEAN-China relations.
